Vipassana means "to see things they are". It is to "put aside whatever is evident the visible truth and to and to concentrate on the reality as it is." Vipassana is the practice of focusing close attention  to the now. In Simple words vipassana is a way of achieving true happiness and a peaceful state of mind.

This tradition has been passed down from generation to generation, from teacher to teacher. However the vipassana that we know of today started with the Enlightened one, none other than Buddha himself.

The vipassana tradition circles around the teachings of Buddha which is known as Dhamma or Dharma. Some of the main points of the True Dharma are the Four  Noble Truths ,the  Eightfold  Path ,and the Five precepts. All these and other teachings of the Blessed One all converge to attain one goal - the end of Suffering.

Originating from ancient India, Vipassana meditation is a practice that focuses on insight and mindfulness. By training the mind to observe thoughts, sensations, and emotions without attachment or judgment, practitioners aim to develop heightened awareness and deep insight into the nature of reality. Through consistent practice, Vipassana meditation cultivates a clear and tranquil mind, leading to a profound understanding of oneself and the world.


2. Zen Meditation:


Zen meditation, derived from the Chinese word "Chan," is a discipline that traces its roots back to ancient China and Japan. This technique emphasizes seated meditation (zazen) and breath awareness. By maintaining an upright posture and following the natural rhythm of the breath, practitioners learn to quiet the mind and detach from the stream of thoughts. Zen meditation aims to reveal the inherent wisdom within each individual, leading to the direct experience of enlightenment or awakening.


3. Transcendental Meditation (TM):


Transcendental Meditation, popularized by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the 1950s, draws its origins from the ancient Vedic tradition of India. This technique involves the use of a specific mantra assigned to each practitioner by a certified teacher. By silently repeating the mantra, one enters a state of deep relaxation and transcends ordinary thinking. 4. Kundalini Meditation:


Kundalini meditation is rooted in the ancient yogic tradition of India. It focuses on awakening the dormant spiritual energy, known as Kundalini, which resides at the base of the spine. This technique combines dynamic movements, breathwork, chanting, and meditation to stimulate and raise the Kundalini energy through the body's energy centers (chakras). 5. Loving-Kindness Meditation:


Loving-Kindness, or Metta, meditation stems from the Buddhist tradition and emphasizes the cultivation of love, compassion, and goodwill towards oneself and others. Practitioners focus on generating feelings of kindness and sending well-wishes to themselves, loved ones, neutral individuals, and even difficult people.
